Firmware updates for Victron equipment don’t need to be constant. Stable systems can stay on their current firmware. Generally, you’d consider an update during initial installation, for troubleshooting, or to add a necessary new feature.

Remember, firmware updates reset all settings to factory defaults, so be prepared for that.

The update process is pretty straightforward: connect to the unit, enter the settings, and select ‘Product Info’ to start the update.

No internet connection is needed as VictronConnect comes with the latest firmware versions. Just make sure not to interrupt the process once it’s started.

NOTE: updating the Cerbo GX device’s firmware does not reset its settings.

• DC input low restart: This is the voltage level at which the inverter will restart after a low voltage shutdown.

• DC input low pre-alarm: Sets a warning level, here the set voltage triggers an alarm before reaching the shutdown voltage, allowing for proactive measures to prevent shutdown.

• Low SOC shutdown: This feature will shut down the inverter if the battery’s state of charge drops to a certain level to prevent battery damage. It can be enabled or disabled according to your energy management needs.

• AES (Automatic Energy Saving): This mode conserves battery energy when there is little or no load connected to the inverter. It can be set to start and stop at specified power levels, for example, starting AES when the load is less than 30W and stopping when higher than 60W.

• PowerAssist: This feature allows the inverter to assist the AC input when the load exceeds the AC input current limit, preventing the main fuse from blowing during peak demands.

• Assist current boost factor: This sets a multiplier for the AC input current limit to determine the additional current the inverter will supply during assistance. A factor of 2.0 means the inverter can provide twice the current of the AC input limit when needed.
